Brock turns 11 (late)

I know I know I use to be the super nice mom who posted ON my kids birthday's and made it super special... well no one reads this anyway and I basically use this as a picture journal. So I have gotten behind sometimes.
The only thing Brock asked for for his birthday was Dinosaur legos. I bought these the same time I bought the one he got for reading the Book of Mormon (I hope I posted about that...?) I just hid these in my room till his birthday. He was really excited. A couple days before his birthday we (Larry and I) took him out to see Jurasic Park in the theater and for dinner. This kid has loved dinos since he was 3! I was worried it might be to scary but he LOVED it! In 3D it was way more fun!

He chose a home made cookie dough ice cream cake! MMMM! I have to admit I am loving that my kids are starting to go for taste vs what animal/ object they want their cake to look like. Don't get me wrong. I loved making them and had lots of fun doing it and have a few more years to do it for Ruth but for now I will enjoy this very YUMMY cake!
Brock has a hard time picking what to do for his birthday every year! In March I took Ethan to Lazer tag and pizza with his friends for his 13th birthday. He loved it!! Brock was sure that was what he wanted to do. So we loaded up the van with 10-11 year old boys (and Ethan) and away we went.

They all had a great time spending the tickets they earned.
The very next week Brock and 2 other cub scouts got to do their cross over into Boy Scouts and earn their Arrow of Light award. We were proud of him. It was hard sometimes for him. Ethan loved scouts and flew threw stuff but there were times Brock struggled with it. He is fired up about Boy Scouts now so we will see how far we get with it.

Good job Brock! We love you and are so happy you are part of our family! I'm sure a lucky mom!

Cross over

Last week Ethan crossed over to Boy Scouts! The Order of the Arrow came and it was a great program! I am so proud of him! Sorry for the lack of pictures of him in this but I had to stand up front with him and didn't think to get some one to take the pictures for me...

Pinewood derby 2011

So the Pinewood Derby was last week. It was a lot of fun! Ethan's car took 2nd! Very exciting. There was only one car he didn't beat! His Watermelon car won "yummiest" ward as well. Brock's car won the "coolest!" It was a yellow (big shocker!) race car with flames painted on the front. They had a lot of fun and this was Brock's first one! He didn't come in last one time either, so it was very exciting.

Week 6 of Summer Break/ Cub Day Camp

Brock loved Cub Camp. He had gone to the day care area a few times when I helped with Ethan at camp but this was his first year being a cub himself. He came home every day excited about all the cool stuff they made and did. It was a fun week for all!
Brock at the snack station. They made Bananas rolled in grapnuts, Cinnamon and sugar. It was actually pretty good.

Brock loved the rock station. He got to break open his own thunder egg. It was a really cool one too!

Brock's shooting improved everyday. The first day he hardly ever hit the paper. The next day he made lots of holes and even a couple bulls eyes! He got better and better each day!

After spending the morning with Brock at day camp I spent the afternoon with Ethan. This is the only year that they will over lap in Cub Scouts so next 2 years I will just be with Brock like the last 2 years have been with Ethan. All the boys' favorite stations are BB guns and archery. Every day I would ask what was your favorite part they always said archery! I didn't get pictures of Brock doing archery because he did it in the afternoon after Ethan had already been there. Funny thing is that Brock got a bulls eye at archery. What makes it even funnier is the sister that had swapped boys with me told me that Brock's bulls eye was the only arrow that even hit the paper!

Ethan playing a team work game at camp.

This is what Ruth thought of the hole thing! Actually she was a very good girl. She napped, and was happy when she was awake. She was ready to get DOWN and play on the floor when we got home though! She was sick of the snugglie and stroller. But very patient!

While the boys were at camp the girls and I went grocery shopping, they played with friends the day I helped, we went to the library, and picnic in the park and the last day we went fabric shopping. We jammed the week full but everyone had fun! I will post this next week Ruth's new tricks! (sitting up!)
Oh we also during the weekend did some house work, and attended the wards Pioneer Day activity. It was a lot of fun!

Pinewood Derby

Ethan's Pinewood derby was last Friday. It was a lot of fun. He got second place on almost every race! His was a "Workman" truck because he idolizes his grandpa and uncles so much! So his award was most "workmanship!" Way to go Ethan!!!

Cub Day Camp and more

This week was Ethan's Day camp for Cub Scouts. Of course because it was the hottest week of the year!!! He handled it like a pro and didn't complain. He even came home willing to mow the grass! He loved every day and had a great time passing stuff off, building things, and being a typical silly 9 year old boy. I went Wednesday as a parent helper, of course because I am 7 months pregnant and it was 106 degrees that day!!! I think I was more miserable then the boys but I tried not to complain because they were being so good. There wasn't any fighting, or complaining! I was so impressed with the boys. I also had to laugh because of all the times a day I think that my child is annoying, or goofy, I went there and remembered, ALL 9 year old boys act that way!!!! I am very very sad to say that I got there and realized that I had forgotten to take my camera! This is not a regular thing for me so I was sad to miss getting pictures of him shooting bows and arrows, Beebe guns, and building stuff. But a sweet friend of mine showed up the last hour and took a few shots for me so I am hoping to get a few of them later on so that at least I can scrap book it later. Brock and Amelia got to go to the child care there that is always really fun for them. They get to do lots of crafts and have tons of fun. They beg to go every day with Ethan. Hayden got to go play with her best friend all day because I knew she wouldn't take the heat, no nap, and port-a- potties so well. She had more fun with Claire anyway! The rest of the week we have gone swimming, played out side, (the kids NOT me!), and ate lots of ice cream (probably more me then the kids!). Thank goodness we have AC and I am able to sleep at night staying cool.
I spent Monday morning getting my glucose tested. I will find out the results Monday. I assume if it was to bad they would call before that. I don't know I haven't ever had a problem before. I hit 29 weeks tomorrow. Things are going pretty smoothly so far. I did go and pick green beans in my garden this morning while it was cool out. I did half of them and knew that I couldn't do any more. But it felt so good to be out in the cool, and working in the garden. I really do love gardening it is just hard when you have a giant watermelon in your belly kicking you and stopping you from bending very far. "Five" is very active lately. Larry can feel the kicks just while I am laying next to him snuggled up for the night. Sometimes they are so big the surprise me. I checked out a book from the library that was for the kids called "What's in My Mommy's Tummy?" It talks about how the baby grows from month to month, tells how big the baby is, what it can do, and all that kind of stuff. My kids thought it was really fascinating. It was kind of fun to show them in terms that they can understand and it seems more real to them. Just today Brock and I were talking about when the baby comes out and Hayden seemed very surprised and said "Baby! Come Out!?" Like she didn't understand yet that the baby was going to come out. I guess we hadn't talked about that enough yet. We will talk about it a lot more as time gets closer though I am sure. It has been a busy and very exhausting week, since we have been getting up earlier, and it has been so hot. So I am very much looking forward to next week while this children go to Grandma camp!!! They are all very excited about it too. Even Hayden can hardly wait to go to Grandma's house for a whole week! I have big plans too!!!

Pinewood Derby

Last night was our Pinewood Derby! They boys had a lot of fun! I think just going to the races is just fun! This first picture is a shot of Ethan's car in first place! I think this is the only race he won. But he really didn't care. Before we left he told me he hoped he won every race, but he was such a good sport. He didn't even say anything about not being the fastest this year! Last year he won them all but this year he didn't and he was ok with that. I was so proud of him for just being happy to be there and having fun!

Ethan and a few of his friends at the race! He is with Marcus and Levi.

Here he is holding his award. All the boys get some kind of award. He got Best paint job! Way to go Ethan!

Cub Day Camp!

Ethan's first week of Cub camp was a lot of fun. I was lucky enough to go with him the first day. I wished I had been able to go with him more days or even the whole week but I ended up being very sick by the end of the first day and I knew there was no way I was going to make it another day! But he had lots of fun! This first picture was of him and some of our boys just hanging out while we were waiting to get started. They had fun together.
Our very first station was ran by Ethan's Grandma! (Larry's mom) She taught the boys a little bit of first aid and they even made a tiny first aid kit!
They did lots of other fun things all week. Some of Ethan's favorite was the archery and the bee bee guns! (Of course what boy doesn't love shooting stuff!) They also built treasure boxes, kaleidoscopes, and learned how to tie knots! I took pictures of each thing we did the first day but I don't think we need a post that long! It was a lot of fun though.
Brock and Amelia got to got to the "tot lot" or the "Polliwog pond" They had so much fun. The begged to go every day! They got to make lots of crafts, have snacks, and go on a "hike" (this was a very short walk holding on to a rope, but they loved it!) Crafts are one of my kids favorite things to do so they were in heaven! They also got to put beads on their name tags just like the big boys did each time they finished one of their things. It was pretty cute!

And the winner is.......

Here are a few extra shots of Ethan working on his pride and joy! He spent a lot of time with his dad getting everything smooth, shinny, and the wheels just right!
So tonight was the big night! Ethan's very first Pine wood Derby! He was so excited. They had the big talk about we are all winners..... Ethan's car won every race he was in except for the one that the track had come apart and his car came off the track. He still won fastest car for the Bears and Wolves!!! Way to go Ethan!!! We were all soooo proud! Grandma and Grandpa Davis came, and brought Grandma Lucy along. It was nice to have them there to support him! (You can hardly see the car because it is dark green against his dark blue shirt. I am adding a video of one of his races! Enjoy!
